According to his Wikipedia page, the now-13-year-old actor first gained prominence through his YouTube series Iain Loves Theatre, where he reviewed stage shows from musical theater.
His channel caught the attention of the theater industry and a couple of agents wanted to sign him up.
In 2015, at the age of seven, he became a correspondent for Perez Hilton during the 2015 Tony Awards.

In 2017, he made his small screen debut in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He was then seen in Impractical Jokers and his next big project was the HBO miniseries Big Little Lies.
He was next seen in The Glass Castle, followed by I’m Not Here and Our Soul at Night. His biggest break came with Young Sheldon, a prequel to The Big Bang Theory.
He was also featured in an episode of The Big Bang Theory, playing his role as young Sheldon on a videotape.

In addition, Iain Armitage lent his voice for a couple of animated movies. He voiced the young Shaggy Rogers in the Scooby-Doo movie Scoob! and the upcoming Scoob: Holiday Haunt.

Iain Armitage admitted it felt surreal to reach that far, thinking a lot of time had already passed. Despite that, he still felt like they had just started the show.

He told Entertainment Tonight,
“On 100th episode day, there's some pictures of me just with the stupidest face. I’m just like, 'Haha, what? One hundred!' It’s crazy because it feels like we've only done one episode and at the same time it feels like we’ve done a thousand. I love it so much and I cannot wait to make more television and I can’t wait to work [with] these awesome people more and hanging out.”
By the looks of it, fans are about to see more of the young Sheldon as CBS has renewed the series up to Season 7, Screen Rant noted.
This just proves the show has become extremely popular and there may be more seasons coming to feature the life of Sheldon as he grows up.
Young Sheldon Season 6 is set to be out in September.
