How Does Word Arts Work in Ishura?
Word Arts is a form of magic in Ishura with a very interesting but complex system. The user has to rely on their familiarity, affinity, and/or association with everything around them to cast and use it efficiently.
Even Elea the Red Tag mentioned that Word Arts require both an understanding of the target object and a special incantation (except Kia the World Word) to weave words into the soul of the object.
If one hasn’t spent a long time with the target, they won’t understand the words to convey with Word Arts at all.
Interestingly, visitors (people who came from a distant world) can communicate with other people (minia) and beasts thanks to Word Arts as well.
According to legend, the angels and the wordmaker were the ones responsible for making Word Arts possible. Curte even claims that Word Arts originated from songs, but nothing has been confirmed for now.
The Four Known Systems of Word Arts So Far
There are four known systems of Word Arts in Ishura, but a fifth system has been rumored to have been mastered by Knafnir the Hatch of Truth.
For now, here are the four known systems of Word Arts in Ishura:
- Thermal Arts are the ones used most of the time by mothers in the kitchen. It can also be used as firepower against a group of deadly wyverns. The Great Labyrinth Golem and even Regnejee, the Wings of Sunset, can use it.
- Craft Arts can be used to change the shape of things, just like how people give a tree a new shape in the form of furniture.
- Life Arts are what doctors use to mend people’s wounds or heal colds. It can also be used to change the properties of things, like turning water into wine.
- Force Arts can move things and send them flying like an arrow fired from a bow that suddenly changed direction mid-flight.
