House of the Dragon Showrunner Drops Major Season 2 Spoiler

There is little doubt that people already have huge expectations when it comes to House of the Dragon Season 2. For instance, there are speculations that the series will kick off its next episode with a brutal sequence straight from Fire and Blood. But what exactly can we expect when the Game of Thrones prequel returns? Showrunner Ryan Condal has just dropped an interesting spoiler about the second season.

Ryan Condal and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin were recently in attendance at an FYC event for HBO and the showrunner confirmed that filming will begin very soon (via Comicbook.com). In addition to that, Condal revealed the exact number of new dragons that will debut in House of the Dragon Season 2

"Production begins pretty shortly," Condal said. "In Season 2, you're going to meet five new dragons."

This is great news considering that we only saw a few dragons in the first season. However, since the Dance of the Dragons is about to start, it would make sense that the other major players in the civil war will finally show up in the series.

George R.R. Martin also pointed out that the novel only serves as an outline for House of the Dragon.

"It was an imaginary history book," Martin said. "In Fire & Blood, it stated that Queen Aemma Arryn dies in childbirth and the son dies [within the hour]. There is nothing about it being the most horrendous childbirth scene ever seen on TV. That's all the work of [Condal] and his writers."

This certainly makes sense and explains why certain details were different from the source material. With that in mind, we're expecting House of the Dragon Season 2 to reveal more information about what truly happened during the Targaryen civil war.

House of the Dragon Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
