Things really took a turn in House of the Dragon last week when King Viserys I Targaryen decided to remove Otto Hightower from his Small Council. With that in mind, the position as the Hand of the King is currently open. So who is going to provide important advice to the King now? The new images from House of the Dragon Episode 5 have confirmed that Viserys already made the choice.
The stills from House of the Dragon Episode 5 were shared by the show's official Twitter account. Although there are only four photos, they focus on the important players in the upcoming episode. One picture shows Rhaenyra Targaryen with her future husband Laenor Velaryon while the second features King Viserys I Targaryen with Corlys and Rhaenys Velaryon. The king and the princess sit together in the third and the last image features everyone gathered at the royal table.
There are a lot of things to be excited about in the pictures but the fourth one has a cool revelation. Seated beside Queen Alicent is Lord Lyonel Strong, the Master of Laws who has been giving the king several tips in the first four episodes. The reason why Lyonel is seated at the royal table could mean that he is the new Hand of the King.
This is an interesting detail and it might be the first good decision that Viserys has made in the show so far. After all, Lord Lyonel Strong has proven that he is loyal and wise. With that in mind, we are hoping he will be providing the king with more great advice in the future.
House of the Dragon Episode 4 is now available on HBO Max. House of the Dragon Episode 5 is titled We Light the Way and will premiere on HBO on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
