House of the Dragon: Emma D'Arcy Reveals What She Learned From Matt Smith

There is little doubt that watching Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen is truly something to behold in House of the Dragon. After all, the two characters have bewitching chemistry that has fans cheering on them whenever they appear on the screen together. Not surprisingly, Emma D'Arcy enjoyed working with Matt Smith on the Game of Thrones prequel and they had just revealed what they learned from the former Doctor Who star.

HBO Max shared a new clip featuring Emma D'Arcy praising their House of the Dragon co-star. “God, I’m so grateful to Matt,” D’Arcy says in the video. “I’ve learned a lot from him. I’ve learned how to play in what can be an intense environment.”

“He has taught me how to ignore the various pressures, the time pressures, all the things that come with shooting on this scale, and tap back into those first principles,” they continued. D'Arcy then admitted that joining the franchise as a relative newcomer was terrifying but it was worth it because they got to work with Smith.

“I was really scared coming to this whole process,” D’Arcy said. “Because no one knows who the hell I am. I don’t even know who the hell I am. I don’t even know why I am here.”

“And then suddenly, working with Matt Smith, who has an extraordinary aura, I love working with him,” they concluded.

Although Emma D'Arcy only joined House of the Dragon in the sixth episode, their scenes with Matt Smith have all been truly memorable. With that in mind, we can't wait to see more of Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen in the last two episodes of the first season.

The latest episode of House of the Dragon is now available on HBO Max. House of the Dragon Episode 9 is titled The Green Council and is set to premiere on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
