As the anime’s release inches closer, Horimiya Piece just got a new trailer that finally showed off new footage. While this is not the first promo video for the anime, the previous one did not feature any new scenes.
The latest trailer is called a concept promotional video titled the Shuwa Kyun version.
While there’s not much info on what this means, the new trailer does feature new footage.
Interestingly, the first Horimiya season had a definitive ending. So, this means the upcoming season is not a typical sequel.
Horimiya Piece: Not a True Sequel
The first Horimiya anime season by CloverWorks aired in early 2021. Despite being only 13 episodes long, the series was able to tell a complete story with a definitive ending.
To do this, the anime did not cover everything in the manga. Instead, it skipped various parts of the source material.
Because of this, there are still lots of scenes and small arcs from the manga that have yet to be animated.
So, it was decided that a new Horimiya anime will be made to adapt these.
Titled Horimiya Piece, the upcoming romance anime promises to adapt the parts of the manga that were skipped, giving anime-only fans more content, even if it’s not a continuation of the story.
CloverWorks returns to animate the new season. Also returning are the first season’s voice actors, including Haruka Tomatsu as Kyoko Hori, Koki Uchiyama as Izumi Miyamura, and Yuka Terasaki as Sota Hori, among others.
This is reminiscent of the upcoming Quintessential Quintuplets anime project which will also adapt parts from the manga that were skipped between Season 2 and the movie.

Horimiya Piece Gets First Official Footage in New Trailer
The Horimiya Piece initial reveal trailer was shared last month. While it confirmed that production on the anime is underway, it only featured footage from the first season.
Now, the new anime has proper footage, which was shared in the new trailer.
These scenes give fans an idea of what parts of the manga are adapted. Check it out here:
Following its release, many fans were delighted to find out that the Sports Festival arc will be animated.
Though some fans expressed that Horimiya should have been two seasons long instead of having a side season like this.
Horimiya Piece will premiere in July 2023. For now, there’s no word yet on an official release date for the first episode.
