Get all of your "Holy whatever Batman!" jokes out of the way because it was announced that Burt Ward, who played Robin in the Batman ‘66 show, has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This is very good news for fans of Ward, the Batman television show, and pretty much anyone who cares about Hollywood back in the ‘60s.
Speaking with Variety, Ward noted that he was fairly patient when it came to waiting for this award, pointing out how he is now 74-years-old and it took Hollywood 50 years to induct him. Still, the actor recognizes what an honor this is as he joins a number of celebrities, making him a bonafide superstar in the eyes of many, though many might be negative and claim that they are running out of stars.
"I realized that we really had a great responsibility when we played those roles to try to be positive influences on people. And I never stopped doing that, whether it's saving Gotham City or saving dogs."
Ward appeared in all 120 episodes of Batman as Robin, the Boy Wonder. He essentially became the face of this character for the longest time, even reprising the role for an animated series based on these versions of Batman and Robin. Recently, he even appeared in Crisis on Infinite Earths, with many of us assume that he was an elderly version of Robin.
Crisis on Infinite Earths will return to The CW soon. Fans interested in Burt Ward as Robin should check out the Batman ‘66 Blu-rays.
