Here’s Why Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Became The DCEU’s Black Adam

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam might not be making an appearance in Zachary Levi's Shazam! but he is getting his own standalone movie.

Though DC fans have yet to receive an official update regarding the status of the Black Adam standalone, producer Hiram Garcia has just recently promised the public that the film is rolling along behind-the-scenes.

Speaking in an interview with Collider, the Black Adam and Shazam! producer has decided to explain just why The Rock makes the perfect fit for the DC Extended Universe's Might Adam.

"Black Adam just made kind of great sense. It was this kind of really cool antihero, kicks ass, who believes in basically exacting justice in his way with a fascinating backstory, the history he has with regards to having been a former slave and freeing his people and then getting his abilities and what happened from there. So I pitched that to Dwayne early on, and he loved the idea, and we've just kind of kept it in the back of our mind. We had a great conversation with Warner Brothers one time years ago, and we all settled on this was our character."

The Rock does have the looks down pat, and he is a pretty charismatic actor. The-wrestler-turned-actor has somehow become one of the biggest action stars in Hollywood over the years, and Warner Brothers would be a fool to let go of the opportunity to have Johnson in their burgeoning superhero franchise.

Right now there might be little word about Black Adam's production, but with Aquaman, Shazam!, Joker, and Wonder Woman 1984, fans still have a lot of great movies to keep them busy for the next two or so years.

Shazam! hits cinemas April 05, 2019.
