Henry Cavill Plans to Play Superman ‘For Years to Come’

Though we haven't had any updates on a Man of Steel sequel, we will be getting Henry Cavill's Superman back for Zack Snyder's Justice League next year. There have been talks going around that WB wants Cavill back as Superman, and Cavill is very adamant about staying in the role for the foreseeable future.

Talking to Patrick Stewart during one of Variety's Actors on Actors interviews, Cavill shares:

"I've always been a fan of Superman… With a character like that, you carry the mantle with you off set. And it becomes part of your public representation. When you meet children, children don't necessarily see me as Henry Cavill, but they might see Superman, and there's a responsibility which comes with that. Because it's such a wonderful character, it's actually a responsibility I'm happy to have, and I hope that I get to play more of Superman in years to come."

Besides the Snyder Cut, we have no idea when Cavill's Superman will make a return down the line. Some are hoping he makes an appearance in the Flash solo movie, while some are also hoping that he has a relevant part in the Shazam! sequel. As for solo films, fans are convinced WB wants J.J. Abrams to work on a Superman movie, but we have yet to get an update from the studio or Abrams himself.

If anything, Cavill was such a spot on choice for Superman, and he really plays the part even off-camera. I'm excited to watch his original take on the Man of Steel in next year's Justice League, and I'm hoping we get to see more of him in the near future.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is set to come out sometime in 2021.
