Hellboy Reboot Delayed, To Come Out a Week After Shazam!

We may not be able to see David Harbour in Stranger Things 3 this Halloween, but we will see him playing Hellboy in the upcoming reboot. The movie was originally set to come out in January 2019, but news has come out that it's being delayed by three months.

As per Bloody-Disgusting, the Hellboy reboot has been pushed to a release on April 12, 2019. No reason has been given about the delay, but it's possible that it could have something to do with reshoots or maybe VFX demands.

With Hellboy set to come out April 12, that puts its release only a week after the release of another comic book film, Shazam!. Seeing that Shazam! is one of the big DC films coming out next year, this could pose a problem for Hellboy. After all, Solo: A Star Wars Story was said to have underperformed because it came out so close to Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. Then again, this release could work both ways, and actually be more harmful to Shazam!.

Though some may be griping that this movie won't be a sequel to the franchise that Guillermo del Toro built, it looks like this reboot has the blessing of Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. What's more, David Harbour actually looks pretty cool with all the make-up. After he was cast, I even noticed that his voice actually sounds a bit like original Hellboy Ron Perlman.

This transition should come easy for the fans.

Hellboy is directed by Neill Marshall and stars David Harbour, Ian McShane, and MIlla Jovovich; the movie is set to come out April 12, 2019.
