HBO's upcoming new drama The Idol has been garnering some interest after it was revealed that the series is co-written by award-winning singer The Weeknd, known as Abel Tesfaye in real life. The "Blinding Lights" singer will also serve as the lead star of the imminent new series.
Since its announcement, the production team has been on the hunt for The Weeknd's leading lady, and, finally, they found the perfect actress recently. It was reported that Lily-Rose Depp is on board The Idol and will play as the singer's on-screen love interest.
This is not the first time that The Weeknd co-wrote or acted in a series. Previously, the "Starboy" singer has co-written an episode for the animated show American Dad, titled A Starboy Is Born. In 2019, he appeared in the Safdie brothers' film called Uncut Gems.

As of right now, there is not a lot of information regarding HBO's The Idol, which made it more interesting. So far, we know that The Weeknd will portray its lead character, and budding actress Lily-Rose Depp will be his leading lady.
