The first trailer for the much-anticipated MCU series Hawkeye has been released. Besides giving us a look at Clint Barton's latest adventure, they also unveiled the first look on Kate Bishop's debut in the MCU, who will be played by Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld.
Kate Bishop, who made her debut in Young Avengers #1 in the comics back in 2005, has become a fan-favorite character for years and fans have been clamoring for her live-action debut in the MCU. It was in their Comic-Con presentation in July 2019 when Marvel finally announced that the character will make her jump to the screen and is set to appear on the series. More than a year later, during the Disney Investor's Day presentation in December 2020, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige officially confirmed that the character will be played by Steinfeld, a casting that received positive responses from the fans.
In the trailer that was recently released, we were able to get our first look at Steinfeld's take on Kate Bishop. Based on what we saw, it seems like fans won't be disappointed by her debut in the MCU. The character's charm and charisma were very much present on the footage as well as her impressive archery skill which is an integral part of the character. We also get to see her do a lot of action sequences alongside Clint Barton.

There are rumors that she will take the mantle of Hawkeye by the end of the series and, by the looks of it, there's no reason to not believe that it won't be the case at all since the series seems to be setting her as the co-lead, not just a side character. After all, if the comics are to be followed, we might see Kate Bishop eventually become one of the key members of Young Avengers. Looking at the history of the MCU, there is a good reason to assume that Marvel has long-term plans for the character moving forward.
Hawkeye is set to premiere this November 24 on Disney+.
