After giving his followers a concerning heads up, stand-up comedian and actor Bo Burnham deleted social media, worrying fans.
Has Bo Burnham's Deleted His Social Media?
Before disappearing from the social media scene, the 33-year-old actor had shared online that he was born on August 21st, 1990, and would "die on January 17, 2024."
When asked to elaborate about this now-deleted post, Burnham revealed that he expected his dog, Bruce, to die before or on that date, and did not want to go on living without his dog.
The comedian is known for his quirky and occasionally dark humor and fans know that he enjoys adding tragic twists in his scripts.
As such, most people didn't take his claims seriously at the time -- especially since it's unlikely for anyone to predict a pet's death -- and thought it was another instance of dark humor.
Burnham is also a writer and director known for Netflix's Eighth Grade. In 2021, he also created a comedy special, Bo Burnham: Inside which he created entirely on his own during the COVID lockdown.
In it, he laments his aging and sings a song where he jokingly says that he will die of suicide at 40.
However, he goes on to reassure the audience that he doesn't plan to go through with it and urges anyone who experiences suicide ideation not to act on it.
Since there has been no relevant announcement, this leads many to believe that the comedian is not dead.
Bo Burnham Left Twitter and All Other Social Media. What Is Next?
While there is no confirmation that Bo Burnham is dead, his disappearance from Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok has worried some fans.
Burnham or his representatives have yet to comment. Given his tendency for dark humor, Burnham might have left Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok as an extended joke, or simply because he was tired of social media.
Unless an announcement from Burnham comes out, we don't expect fans to stop speculating anytime soon.
Right now, Burnham's Twitter account is empty. However, the account appears to have over 2,000 posts, which would have to be scheduled since they don't appear on his wall.
Because of that, some fans are suggesting that Burnham deleted his social media accounts to create hype and they expect him to make a huge announcement such as a tour or new special soon.
As of writing, this remains unconfirmed.
