Harry Styles Passes On The Little Mermaid Role To Focus On His Music Career

Harry Styles may have been in talks to play Prince Eric in Disney's live-action remake of the animated classic The Little Mermaid, however, it seems like the former member of the pop band One Direction is passing on the offer so that he can focus on his music career instead.

Speaking in an interview with The Face, the musician admitted that while he had "discussed" the idea of becoming Prince Eric for the Little Mermaid remake together with Disney, he decided to pass the role.

"I want to put music out and focus on that for a while," Styles explained in his discussion with the entertainment news outlet.

According to Styles, it really had nothing to do with Disney. He had no problems with the film or the project's creative team.

"But everyone involved in it was amazing, so I think it's going to be great. I'll enjoy watching it, I'm sure," the musician and actor said.

Styles' fans may feel disappointment over the news. They were looking forward to the musician playing Eric, the human prince who finds himself saved by Princess Ariel, falling in love with her even though he has no clue who or what she really is. Styles would have played across Growin-ish actress and singer Halle Bailey.

Still, fans ought to be happy with whatever decision Styles makes. Fans shouldn't really take it against the musician for wanting to focus on his music. Besides, Disney probably has a few other big names to cast as Ariel's love interest in The Little Mermaid.

The Little Mermaid has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
