Harry Potter Screenwriter Shades J.K. Rowling on Anti-Trans Tweets

It looks like everyone is opposed to J.K. Rowling after the author posted anti-trans tweets last week. The latest person to address the issue is Steve Kloves, who was one of the screenwriters for the Harry Potter movies. Interestingly, Kloves' comments seemingly throw shade at Rowling.

Kloves recently spoke to Variety about the issue and he issued a statement confirming he does not agree with Rowling's stand.

"Our diversity is our strength," Kloves said. "In these challenging times, it's more important than ever that transgender women and men, and people who are non-binary, feel safe and accepted for who they are. It seems very little to ask."

It's an interesting statement considering that Rowling is standing firm with her beliefs. In addition to the transphobic tweets, the Harry Potter author has shared an essay that solidifies her thoughts on biological sex.

Kloves isn't the only one making a statement about the issue. The three lead stars of the Harry Potter movies have also made it clear that they do not share Rowling's views. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint have each issued statements about the matter.

"I firmly stand with the trans community and echo the sentiments expressed by many of my peers. Trans women are women. Trans men are men," Grint said. "We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgment."

Rowling has yet to make a formal statement about her tweets.
