What a strange time to be alive. A Harry Potter reboot is actually happening, as recently announced by Warner Bros., in the form of a television series on HBO Max, comprised of seven seasons, with each one focusing on one of the books.

However, while Wizarding World creator JK Rowling is attached as executive producer, no one else has been name-dropped.

Rowling shared the following statement via Twitter account The Rowling Library:

[HBO] Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series.

As for the cast, there's a rumor they've already been chosen...

According to Yahoo!, which mentions a nameless "TikTok user", Toby Woolf, Bronte Carmichael, and Joshua Pickering will play Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

However, as this is a rumor, and that there has been no official statement from Warner Bros. or HBO Max, it's best to take it with a pinch of salt.

But with all of that said, it has now been reported by The Times (via Hello!) that a new casting call for the upcoming reboot is underway.

Hero Talent Group founder Nicole Tasker reportedly told the publication that agents are seeking new child actors for the upcoming HBO Max series.

"The [Harry Potter] casting team will do open calls on social media," Tasker told the publication, "go to local drama groups and contact all the child agencies. It used to just be the big drama schools, but everything is more open now.”

So, it looks like the rumored casting is just that - a rumor. It's also worth noting that the three actors in question are well above the required age of 11.

Now, Warner Bros. and HBO are on the lookout for a new Harry, Ron, and Hermione and beyond! Best grab the Sorting Hat...
