Harry Potter: Daniel Radcliffe Credits Harrison Ford as Inspiration for Career Choices

Daniel Radcliffe has changed a lot since he played the Boy Who Lived in the Harry Potter film franchise, and we're not just referring to the former child actor's adulthood. Radcliffe has chosen a lot of unique and unexpected roles in his long career, and he says his chosen roles were inspired by Harrison Ford and his own amazing resume.

The world met Daniel Radcliffe when he first debuted as the young wizard in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. He would play Harry in seven more films before branching out to quirky and unique roles in groundbreaking projects.

But what drove Daniel Radcliffe to seek out unexpected roles? The Guns Akimbo star wanted to remain significant in the industry long after Harry Potter ended.

“I had this awareness that people expected we would do nothing after Potter — that we would fade away,” Radcliffe told GQ. “I really wanted that not to be the case, because I knew that I loved it, and I wanted to do whatever I have to do to have a career with longevity.”

Although it seems that Radcliffe wants to distance himself from Harry Potter, he isn't above meeting with his former castmates as they all attended the HBO special celebrating the franchise's debut. Radcliffe shared his thoughts on the franchise's new product.

“I didn’t fully realize how emotional it might be until we got there, and realized we’re doing the most visible high school reunion in the world,” he says. “There was something odd about it, but it was also genuinely much more sweet than I thought it was going to be.”

We're glad that Daniel Radcliffe chose Harrison Ford as his inspiration and we're hoping that he continues to shine in his unique projects.
