Harrison Ford Confirms Indiana Jones 5 Is His Last Time on the Franchise

Disney’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is bringing back Harrison Ford on his last adventure as the iconic whipping archeologist we have long known him for.

“This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character.” Ford said in a recent interview with Total Film magazine (via GamesRadar).

“I anticipate that it will [also] be the last time that he appears in a film.”

In late 2022, an Indiana Jones TV show had been reportedly in the works, which Ford is seemingly aware of.

In lieu of his last reprisal of the character, Ford added that he will “not be involved in [the TV show], if it does come to fruition.”

Considering that the 80-year-old actor has already returned one too many times on the franchise, it is only natural for him to seek out other career opportunities in Hollywood, which includes Marvel.

“I had been ambitious to do this film for 10 years, and there finally came a time when we all committed to that.” Ford added, “It was a joyous moment for me. I think it’s a rare situation that I find myself in.”

“I’ve been able to deliver amazing films developed by Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] over a 40-year period, and to end it not with a whimper, but a bang, has been my greatest ambition for this excursion.” Ford said.

After his last return to the Indiana Jones franchise, Ford is set to appear in Marvel’s Captain America: New World Order as Thaddeus Ross, replacing William Hurt, who previously portrayed the character in the franchise.

When asked why he decided to leap to the MCU, Ford said: “I don’t know. I can’t explain myself, I just work here. [laughs] I thought, ‘Everybody else seems to be having a great time.’”

“I watch all these terrific actors having a good time [in Marvel movies]. I like doing something different to what I’ve ever done and pleasing people with it. So I’ll try a piece of that,” Ford explained.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is slated to release in theaters on June 30.

Marvel’s Captain America: New World Order is slated for its theatrical release on May 3, 2024.
