One of the TV shows from the past few years that is surprisingly getting a lot of love from the audience is the HBO Max animated series Harley Quinn which follows the titular DC villain as she deals with her break-up from the Joker and moves on with her life. The series featured a lot of well-known characters from DC Comics and one who has become a fan-favorite is Kite Man. Now, it looks like he is getting his own show as well.
Per ComicBook.com, during the Not Kidding Around: Warner Bros. Animation and the Reimagining of Iconic Characters for an Adult Audience" panel at South by Southwest, Harley Quinn co-showrunner Patrick Schumacker revealed that they are working on a Kite Man spinoff series tentatively titled Noonan for HBO Max. Described as "Cheers for supervillains," the spinoff will follow Kite Man as he opens a bar at Gotham City called Noonan's Bar, which will become the prime hangout spot for the villains. Matt Oberg will reprise the voice role of Kite Man.
According to Schumacker, following the events of the second season of Harley Quinn where he split from his ex-fiancee Poison Ivy, Kite Man "tries to run the bar by himself, but it doesn't turn out so easy." He also would go on to reveal, "We have Harley and Ivy appear in the first episode, but after that, we have different goons and villains appearing every episode like Lex Luthor and Bane."
It is exciting to hear that Kite Man from Harley Quinn is getting his own spinoff since he is a wonderful and funny character. The idea of him opening a bar and the series being like Cheers is also such a great concept since it has a lot of potentials to become one of the funniest shows and it would also be exciting to see the interactions between the villains while drinking a glass of beer.
This also just shows that there is a lot of love and support for Harley Quinn and HBO Max saw the potential for them to spin it off to another project. As long as the quality is the same as the parent series, it should be a fun show to watch no matter what and it would be curious to see what kind of direction it will take story-wise besides being like the classic sitcom Cheers.
