Harley Quinn Co-Creator Loves Birds of Prey Movie Title

DC fans were quite surprised when the official name for 2020's Birds of Prey movie was much longer than anyone thought it would be. Rather than go with that classic comic book title, the movie will now be called Birds of Prey (and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), which fans did not expect. Still, it does put the focus on Harley and a lot of people are loving it, including her co-creator Paul Dini.

On Facebook, Dini shared the image Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie recently revealed on social media and he loves it. Dini reveals that writing for Harley can be fun since he often writes "scribble nonsense and wacky thoughts" all over things. Having the actress share the script with this title seems to fit with the characterization of the character Dini created.

Considering how he helped create Harley and wrote for the character's lines and actions for a number of years, this is pretty high praise. While most people don't have nice things to say about Suicide Squad, people did praise Robbie as Harley Quinn, though it might have been due to her looks since the character's lines weren't that great.

The film is being directed by Cathy Yan, with a script from Bumblebee's Christina Hodson. Stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio and fight coordinator Jon Valera recently joined the project, with Eusebio reportedly also serving as a second unit director. Birds of Prey will debut on February 7, 2020.
