Marvel fans will be quick to point out that Spider-Gwen and Kate Bishop have one thing in common: They are both played by Hailee Steinfeld. However, the Bumblebee star is quick to point out that Gwen Stacy from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse shares several awesome characteristics with the next Hawkeye.
There is little doubt that people loved Hailee Steinfeld's performance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. However, fans are also pleased that she's finally playing an equally tough Marvel character in the flesh. So it's no surprise that when asked to compare Spider-Gwen to Kate Bishop, Steinfeld decided to talk about what they had in common instead.
"I feel so honored to be a part of both projects. They're characters that have similarities, but they're very different. Of course, one is animation, and one is not, and two completely different worlds," Steinfeld told CBR. She then pointed out that Gwen and Kate are heroes in their own right.
"I always love that -- I do find the characters that I have played in the past do have this sort of consistency in being these young women who are strong-minded, have a point of view, have an idea of who they are in this world and they really stop at nothing to get what they want to achieve. I think that both Gwen Stacy and Kate Bishop are proof that if you set your mind to something, you can really achieve great things," Steinfeld said.
It's an awesome point and we certainly agree with Hailee Steinfeld on this. We already know what Spider-Gwen is capable of and we're looking forward to seeing her in action again in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2. Fans will then get to see Kate in action in Hawkeye next week.
Hawkeye premieres on Disney+ on November 24, 2021. Steinfeld is expected to return in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, which is scheduled for release on October 7, 2022.
