It seems like there's an endless supply of webtoons getting adapted into a live-action series on streaming platforms. So is Netflix's upcoming Kdrama series, Gyeongseong Creature, based on a webtoon too?
This year alone, there have been a number of K-Dramas on Netflix that were adapted from a webtoon. Some of the most popular ones include The Uncanny Counter 2, Doona!, and Bloodhounds. But what about Gyeongseong Creature?
Is Gyeongseong Creature Based on a Webtoon?
Based on our research, Gyeongseong Creature doesn't seem to be based on any webtoon series.
There are some publications that refer to it as a series adapted from a Line webtoon created by Yaongyi. But upon checking, there doesn't seem to be any other webtoon that the comic artist has created other than True Beauty.
What is Gyeongseong Creature's Story About?
The official summary of Gyeongseong Creature, as written by Netflix, reads:
"Set in early 1945 when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule, the series centers around two young adults who encounter strange creatures born from greed, and then must battle for survival in the city of Gyeongseong — now known as Seoul. But it turns out, there may be something even more dangerous out there than the creatures themselves."
The series promises to be a "never-before-seen horror experience." Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of information on what this Kdrama series is about.
What we know about this series, right now, is that it is a period drama that transports its viewers to 1945. At that time, Seoul was called Gyeongseong and was under colonial rule.
Based on release documents, Gyeongseong Creature is a period drama that mixed with sci-fi. The released teaser doesn't share much about the story except that there is a monster in a hospital setting that was born out of human greed.

The cast of Gyeongseong Creature was revealed to include Park Seo-jun and Han So-hee. Here's the full list of cast members:

The show was created by Kang Eun-kyung and directed by Jeong Dong-yoon.
