Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is finally over, but fans can look forward to the new Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance Project, which was revealed today by Sunrise/Bandai Namco Filmworks.
Instead of being a more typical 2D animated work, this new series will be animated using Unreal Engine 5.
This next Gundam project is not connected to Witch from Mercury. Instead, it is related to the original Gundam anime.
The Witch from Mercury Story Ends in Season 2 Finale
After over half a decade, Mobile Suit Gundam finally made its long-awaited anime comeback with The Witch from Mercury, which began back in the Fall 2022 season.
It’s fair to say that the new Gundam anime was a huge hit. Not only did new episodes routinely trend on Twitter, but the anime also helped drive sales towards the new Gunpla model kits, enough that some units were quickly sold out.
After a one-season break, the series returned with Season 2 which aired during the Spring 2023 season. Finally, the series ended with Episode 24 which aired yesterday.
While there are viewers who think that the anime’s conclusion was rushed, most of the top tweets about the anime on Twitter featured praise towards the ending.
Many fans were satisfied with the endings of the characters, especially Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran.
While fans are hoping for the show to get a third season, the second season’s last episode featured an ending card that said “This is where the story concludes…” meaning we might not get a continuation.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance Announced With Teaser Trailer
Even though the latest Gundam anime might not get another season, fans can at least look forward to Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, the next upcoming animated project in the franchise which was revealed via a teaser.
This new project will be set in the same universe as the first Gundam anime.
Specifically, it will follow the European Front during the events of the One-Year War.
Based on the teaser, this upcoming project will feature the Zaku II mobile suit.
Unreal Engine 5 is best known as a video game engine, so it’s a bit surprising to see it be used for an animated work.
Requiem for Vengeance will feature six episodes that are 30 minutes in length each. But right now, there’s no word yet on a release date for the project.
