Guillermo Del Toro's Scary Stories To Read In The Dark Teaser Reveals Terrifying New Tale

We're still a few months away from the premiere of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark but we finally have a real teaser for the horror flick. Interestingly, the classic tales that once terrified children are not the only ones that will be brought to life as a horrifying new story is somehow unveiled.

The trailer opens with a peaceful look at the town of Mill Valley. However, things immediately take a turn as a group of teenagers make their way to a scary-looking house. It's the home of the Bellows family and it hides a truly terrifying secret. One of the teens discovers a book written by the mysterious Sarah Bellows and that's when everything goes downhill.

The teaser offers glimpses at the classic tales Harold, The Big Toe, and The Red Spot but also unveils an amazing twist. These stories have been created by Sarah, who has her own horror story. Needless to say, we're looking forward to all the terror inflicted on us by Alvin Schwartz in the André Øvredal film.

The movie's synopsis reads as follows:

"It's 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying tome."

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is scheduled for release on August 9.
