Guardians of the Galaxy's Glenn Close Comments on James Gunn's Firing

The fallout from James Gunn's firing from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 continues. Fans and a number of Gunn's celebrity friends are still fuming over what many see as an unjust firing due to tweets made years ago. Glenn Close is the latest Hollywood personality that has chimed in on the matter and she offers a different perspective from everyone else thus far.

According to a quick interview with TMZ, Close gave a very telling statement without actually naming anyone involved. She asks people who use social media to think about who they are about to talk about and imagine themselves as them before posting anything. It's clear that the actress wants people to put more tact in their words, including Gunn himself.

"I think it would help if people on social media could envision themselves actually standing across, or sitting across from the people they're talking about. They might change what they put on social media."

Close was then asked if she supports Gunn on his current struggle but didn't give a straight answer. All she said was that she enjoyed working with him on Guardians of the Galaxy, where she was the head of the Nova Corps. It's a fair answer from her and she doesn't owe anyone more than that.

While Gunn's firing feels rushed and PR-motivated, Close's words are also worth thinking about. Gunn has obviously changed since making those offensive remarks but had he thought of the people he would be hurting when making those tweets, he wouldn't be here in the first place.

No word yet on what will happen to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 now that Gunn has been fired from Disney.
