Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista Actually Auditioned For A Couple Of Star Wars Movies

Marvel fans might not know it, but Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista actually tried to audition for a couple of movies in Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away. It turns out that the Avengers: Infinity War star was actually a huge fan of Star Wars, and he wanted to have a role in one of Disney's Star Wars movies.

Speaking in an interview with the Flickering Myth, Bautista admitted that it was always his dream to appear in a Star Wars film and so he auditioned for a couple of movies in the past few years. Unfortunately, it seems like Bautista was turned down for reasons we probably won't know of.

"I've actually auditioned for a couple of Star Wars [movies] and they've turned me down," Bautista told the publication. "It was always a dream of mine to be in a Star Wars film."

Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that Bautista isn't good enough for a Star Wars movie. It's very likely that the role that the wrestler-turned-actor auditioned for may not have suited his style or his physique – after all Lucasfilm can be very particular about what they want in their movies.

Still, it seems like Bautista rejection might have affected his perception of Disney's Star Wars movies.

"I can't say I'm the biggest fan of the latest installments," Bautista admitted. "I particularly loved Rogue One. I thought it was a really great film and I love that they went a little bit dark with it. I thought it was really interesting."

Bautista must probably be one of the more traditional fans of the franchise who prefer the films from the original trilogy above everything else produced, including George Lucas' prequels and Disney's sequels. We wonder whether Episode IX might change his mind.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2018.
