Nebula has had a lot on her plate, as seen in the past MCU movies. The character had to deal with her father's death twice, killed her past sinister self, and come to terms with the fact that her sister's life was traded for a stone. It's expected that it'll be a bit hard for Nebula to process all of that as time passes by. Now that she's a hero, it'll be interesting to see where Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will take her, with actor Karen Gillan teasing her character's future.

Speaking on a virtual panel at GalaxyCon Live, Gillan talks about what's next for Nebula now that Thanos is out of her life. "I was able to use a lot of psychology essays on that character because she's someone who has dealt with abuse from her father from such a young age," she explained. "Not to make it too heavy, but he pitted the siblings against each other — she would be inferior and the scapegoat, while the other one was the golden child." The actress points out that it's a common thing within families, but she didn't have siblings so Gillan "had to read up" on that.

Nebula "faced the source of her abuse" and watch him "get eliminated from her life." The actress says she thinks about the character's future as to what it'll be like now that Thanos is out of her life and how she'll be able to "build" her herself again. "Because it's an odd feeling, I think, for someone who's been abused by a parent," Gillan added. "Because they still love them and they're sad that they're gone, but also they hate them and they're glad that they're gone"

Gillan felt "sympathy and empathy" for Nebula over having a "really hard time." In the third Guardians movie, the actress is "interested to try and take her to a place now where she's starting to rebuild her life."

Updates about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are quite scarce so Gillan sharing some details is refreshing and exciting for fans. With Nebula's past behind her, we hope that she gets a fresh start and for her to reconnect with her sister Gamora, who is actually the 2014 version of the character.
