The entire world (or the galaxy, rather) is buzzing about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and rightfully so. The film kicked off the summer movie season with an astounding $114 million opening at the local box office and that's just the tip of the iceberg for our favorite cosmic superteam.

However, despite the film's impressive performance at the box office and the rousing critical reviews it's been generating since its release, it turns out that not everyone is pleased with how the film turned out.

One fan took to Instagram (via The Direct) to share his dismay about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, claiming that director James Gunn "played safe" with his final Marvel Cinematic Universe outing.

Understandably, Gunn didn't take too kindly to the fan's nitpick and in return, the DC Studios co-head gave him a NSFW response, almost pulling a Star-Lord during that much-talked-about F-bomb scene.

Not mincing his words, Gunn wrote: "You got to be fucking kidding me". Check it out here:

As someone who's already seen the film, I can totally say that James Gunn went out with a bang, and the only "criticism" I had with the film is its runtime. It should have at least been given an Avengers: Endgame type of runtime because quite frankly, it feels like a huge MCU event on par with the crossover films Marvel Studios has produced.

Meanwhile, despite Gunn's intention of closing the chapter on the Guardians franchise, the film has left the door wide open for the "new" GOTG lineup to kickstart a brand new adventure in the MCU.

Personally, as much as I'd love to see them return, if Gunn isn't involved in some capacity, I don't think a future Guardians of the Galaxy film would work under a new director.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now screening in cinemas.
