If you loved Chukwudi Iwuji’s Murn character in DC’s Peacemaker, you’ll definitely hate him as a villain in the future of Marvel. Iwuji just confirmed that he will be playing as an antagonist for the 3rd franchise of The Guardians of The Galaxy film.
After Peacemaker’s successful TV show, Iwuji is now ready to take on a different role. Director James Gunn has revealed even before the show’s premiere that he will be taking back Iwuji to the Marvel Universe to play a secret, very serious Marvel villain in a trilogy-ender.
After Peacemaker’s final episode, Variety was able to interview Iwuji for his next roles and adventures, particularly about his new Marvel Character and its difference from Murn’s Character. "The production is so big. James and I, we're picking up where we left off.” The actor explained.
The actor also explained that Gunn has really pushed him to get his best performance and notes that the character requires ‘extremism’ that he was not really familiar with his Peacemaker character.
"[The character] is very different from Murn. It requires different stuff from me. The way James works with me is pretty much the same, which is he trusts my choices – but at the same time when I give him a choice, he's ready to push it further. He's making me push myself. This character needs extremism that I didn't need to really tap into in Peacemaker that I'm tapping into here. Our relationship remains the same, one of enjoyment, mutual love, and trust."
"It's a lot different. Murn is a very contained guy with bursts of anger and emotion. What I'm dealing with is a completely different guy, who, let's just say, is the extreme opposite of Murn in many ways, It's a different kind of world and universe." Iwuji added.
Iwuji also teased that his character will be interacting with all the members of The Guardians of The Galaxy, which means he will be a really big deal villain.
"I can't say who I'm opposite the most, but I will say I interact with everyone," Iwuji said. "I'll give you that nugget. I get to share that love."
Fans think that Iwuji will be playing as The Beyonder, a cosmic entity that can manipulate reality.
At this point, nothing is confirmed about who he is playing yet but we can watch Chukwudi Iwuji’s recent TV show Peacemaker, streaming in HBO Max.
