Grey's Anatomy Season 18 Cast Update: Lynn Chen Promoted To Recurring Actor As Dr. Michelle Lin

Good news for Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 fans! Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital will see more of Dr. Michelle Lin in the upcoming episodes since actress Lynn Chen was just promoted from guest star to recurring actor.

Who Is Dr. Michelle Lin In Grey's Anatomy Season 18?

Lin was first featured in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 1 as the newly-hired head of plastic surgery.

Since Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) was dealing with doctors quitting their job due to COVID-19, she had to quickly find a replacement for some key positions. However, Bailey was on the fence about hiring Dr. Lin because she seemed arrogant.

But the hospital didn’t have much choice that’s why Dr. Webber (James Pickens Jr.) decided to hire Dr. Lin. Shortly after, the new head of plastic surgery expressed her desire to quit the job because she witnessed first-hand how incompetent some of the interns were.

Webber urged Dr. Lin to not quit because it would be difficult for them to find another replacement at such short notice. Instead, he promised the doctor that he will train the interns so that they won’t disappoint her again.

Chen’s promotion as a recurring actor confirms that Dr. Lin did not leave Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital after all.

Webber, Bailey, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), and Addison (Kate Walsh) are all doing a wonderful job training the interns so Dr. Lin doesn’t have anything to worry about.

ER Fightmaster Promoted To Recurring Actor In Grey's Anatomy Season 18

Other than Chen, ER Fightmaster was also cast as a recurring actor in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18.

Fightmaster plays the role of Dr. Kai Bartley, who is part of the world-class research staff at a hospital in Minnesota.

Kai was first featured in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 3. And she crossed paths with Meredith and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) when they visited the hospital in Minnesota.

Amelia didn’t just encourage Meredith to help Dr. Hamilton find a cure for Parkinson’s; she also agreed to help Meredith out.

Since Chen and Fightmaster have both been promoted to recurring actor status, fans of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 can expect to see them in the upcoming episodes.

When Will Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 5 Air?

Sad news for Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 fans because the series won’t air again this week. Episode 5 will premiere on Thursday, Nov. 11 following the show’s two-week hiatus.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 5 titled Bottle Up and Explode! will serve as another crossover installment with Station 19 Season 5 Episode 5.

“The doctors spring into action after an explosion rocks Seattle, with the incoming trauma hitting close to home; in Minnesota, Meredith and Amelia meet up with a familiar face who assists in their study,” the synopsis reads.
