Grey's Anatomy and 13 Reasons Why Star Joins Netflix's Umbrella Academy

Netflix's adaptation for Umbrella Academy continues to reel in the stars. Getting Ellen Page was obviously a huge deal since she's going to be the series' lead character and now Kate Walsh of Grey's Anatomy and 13 Reasons Why has been cast. This is Walsh's second Netflix series after the aforementioned 13 Reasons, so it's neat seeing her do double duty.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walsh will be a character called The Handler, who will have a recurring role in the series. The character has been described as a composed and confident leader of a mysterious, bureaucratic company who is always ready to manage any situation — though it's best not to get on her bad side. Her charm is her greatest strength and she uses it to her advantage to complete the business of her organization.

Walsh joins a cast that includes the aforementioned Ellen Page and Academy Award nominee Mary J. Blige, Netflix is really building a lot of anticipation for the series.

Based on the critically acclaimed comic book by My Chemical Romance lead Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba, Umbrella Academy focuses on a dysfunctional family of superheroes — The Monocle, Spaceboy, The Kraken, The Rumor, The Séance, Number Five, The Horror, and The White Violin — who work together to solve their father's mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities.

No release date for Umbrella Academy has been revealed.
