Green Lantern Star Finn Wittrock Says HBO Max Series is 'Not Your Average Superhero Story'

The Green Lantern series is now moving forward after the HBO Max show found its Guy Gardner. Still, some fans are wary of how the project will work after the disastrous 2011 film. Nevertheless, Finn Wittrock is confident that fans will love the new DC series which he says is "not your average superhero story."

Back in April, Wittrock was confirmed to join the Green Lantern show where he will play Guy Gardner. Although people (including Ryan Reynolds) were enthusiastic about the casting, there were also certain concerns about Warner Bros. making the same mistake as the 2011 movie.

Not surprisingly, Wittrock is quick to defend his upcoming project. The American Horror Story star compared the new series to Reynolds' Green Lantern.

"I think it offers a chance to reinvent the whole thing and you're not going to have... I mean, no offense to the movie. It is what it is, but you're not going to have people who are dying for the creation of that movie. [The show] can be its own new interpretation," Wittrock told Entertainment Weekly.

Wittrock continued by teasing the new show's attributes.

"It's pretty epic. It spans time and space and has something for everyone. It's not your average superhero story," he said.

It's a promising tease on what to expect in Green Lantern. We have yet to see Wittrock suit up as the DC comic book hero but there is little doubt that it's going to be awesome. Needless to say, we can't wait to see Guy in action really soon.

The Green Lantern series has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere on HBO Max. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
