Grand Theft Auto VI Rumor is Fake, Rockstar Confirms

Yesterday, a suspicious message surfaced on Grand Theft Auto Online informing players that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming next year. As GamesRadar pointed out, various players on Rockstar's support forums shared screenshots with the message "GTA VI Coming 2019" with the link to Rockstar's website, so it led many players asking if this message was officially from the developer or just a modder fooling everyone. But Rockstar has recently confirmed that the rumor is fake.

When a player asked Rockstar Support on Twitter, "What's up with that GTA VI message? It's constantly showing up for me, even in story mode", they responded:

"This is a hoax made with the use of mods, and not an official message or statement from Rockstar Games," Rockstar Support tweeted.

Most of the players who shared screenshots of the fake message were PC users, and there have been no reports of players seeing the message on Playstation 4 or Xbox One. This led many to believe that the hacker was behind it because the console versions are harder to tamper with.

Of course, Rockstar hasn't confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming next year nor did they mention a release date but one thing is for sure: the highly-anticipated game is currently in development.
