Bane is ready to take on Gotham City. Shane West has just teased on the supervillain's arrival in preparation for Gotham Season 5.
The Nikita actor has recently been cast as Eduardo Dorrance in the final season of the Fox series. Although Dorrance is Bane's father in the comic books, there is a possibility that West will be turning into the villain in Gotham next year. West hinted at his character's possible identity in a Twitter post. Check it out below.
There's not much to see in the short video but fans immediately picked up on the curious mask over West's mouth. Could this be some strange confirmation that Dorrance will become Bane in the final season? We'll have to wait for more updates to be sure.
The Fox show hasn't exactly been subtle when it comes to teasing at Bane's arrival. The fifth episode is titled Pena Dura, a possible reference to Peña Duro, the prison where Bane grew up. In addition to that, the eighth episode has an obvious title I Am Bane. It looks like Dorrance will quickly be turning into Bane in just four short episodes.
Interestingly, the title of Episode 7 has just been revealed to be Ace Chemicals. Could Dorrance end up in a chemical accident that will turn him into Bane? Will the Joker have something to do with the transformation? We won't be surprised if this happens immediately.
Dorrance/Bane will be West's first comic book character. Although he previously appeared in the film adaptation of Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, his character Tom Sawyer is not in the comic series. West's most recent TV work was in the supernatural horror series Salem.
The Gotham Season 5 air date has not yet been announced. Nevertheless, the final season is expected to premiere on Fox by early 2019.
