GOTG Vol. 3 Didn't Influence the Guardians' Finale in Avengers: Endgame

James Gunn is currently working on The Suicide Squad right now, but next year he starts production with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The ending of Avengers: Endgame pretty much gives us a whole new roster of Guardians, but it's been revealed that GOTG Vol. 3 didn't have anything to do with the Russos' decision to have Thor be part of the team.

Talking to Happy, Sad, Confused, the Russos revealed that they haven't even read Gunn's script for Guardians 3 when they included the scene. It's possible that Guardians 3 could write Thor off, but I think it would be wasted potential for the character.

Personally, I'm hoping that Gunn actually ends up using Thor for his movie; I never really thought that Ragnarok was a fitting conclusion for him, and I'm all up to watch Thor's journey in finding out who he is outside of being the King of Asgard. Plus there's a rumor going around that Beta Ray Bill will be in the film, and what better foil for Thor when he's presented with someone else just as worthy as he is?

We don't really know what kind of plot to expect for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but some speculate that it will have something to do with the search for Gamora. We don't really know what happens to her after Stark's snap, but I'd be interested to see where she ends up—if she can even be saved from where she is.

For now, catch the Guardians in Avengers: Endgame which is currently out in theaters.
