GOTG: James Gunn Shares BTS Image of Mantis' Mom and Ego

Yesterday actress Jennifer Sharp shared that she was playing Mantis' mother in a deleted scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and now James Gunn gives us a better look at her character along with Kurt Russell a.k.a. Ego the Living Planet.

Sharp has since edited her post since it was not supposed to be revealed that she was playing Mantis' mom, and even the post from James Gunn implies that she was just playing a woman that was the same species as Mantis.

I for one, think that having Mantis as Star-Lord's step-sister would be interesting. With him usually struggling with his identity and his family, it would add a different layer for him to have a sister to care for. Then again, the Guardians are all about a ragtag group of outsiders who make a family for themselves. I guess having Peter Quill have an actual relationship with one of them would cheapen his connection with the others.

For now, the only remaining Guardian after the events of Infinity War is Rocket Raccoon. It's already been confirmed that Peter Quill and Mantis will be part of Vol. 3, but I'm not entirely sure about the fate of Gamora. I can see everyone who turned to dust coming back, but Gamora was killed without the Gauntlet. Who's to say she can come back the same as the others?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to come out sometime in 2020.
