Fans have been anticipating the second season of Good Omens, which wrapped production a year ago. For the past several months, Neil Gaiman has been teasing about the release of the show's sophomore installment and now we finally know when it will exactly arrive.
Prime Video has officially announced that the second season of Good Omens will premiere on July 28. All six episodes will release simultaneously and it will be available to all subscribers in more than 240 countries worldwide.
Gaiman also collaborated with superfans Hilly and Hannah Hindi of the The Hillywood Show to announce the second season's release date through the fan-funded video "Good Omens Parody." You can check it here:
The second season "explores storylines that go beyond the original source material to illuminate the uncanny friendship between Aziraphale, a fussy angel and rare book dealer, and the fast-living demon Crowley."
"Having been on Earth since The Beginning, and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley are getting back to easy living amongst mortals in London’s Soho when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery."
Gaiman serves as the co-showrunner alongside Douglas Mackinnon, who directed all episodes. Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Jon Hamm, Doon Mackichan, and Gloria Obianyo are reprising their roles from the first season.
Returning this season in new roles are Miranda Richardson, Maggie Service, and Nina Sosanya as Nina. Joining the show's sophomore run are Liz Carr, Quelin Sepulveda, and Shelley Conn.
This is certainly exciting news since we know now when we can catch the return of Aziraphale and Crowley for another unholy adventure. It is more interesting this time around since the material for the new season will not be based on the original novel by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
