Gigantamax Pikachu, Meowth, and Eevee are Coming to Pokemon Sword and Shield Raids

When Pokemon Sword and Shield first showcased Gigantamax Pikachu, Eevee, and Meowth, fans were initially excited since these were such wacky versions of the Pokemon we loved. Gigantamax Pikachu actually garnered a ton of praise from older fans since it looks like the original, chunkier version of Pikachu. However, fans were disappointed when it was revealed that save data for Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee were needed to get the Gigantamax versions of Pikachu and Eevee respectively, while Gigantamax Meowth was a limited time offer.

Thankfully, Gigantamax Pikachu and Eevee are no longer $60 DLC as the two forms will now be appearing in Sword and Shield Raid Battles. It's good to know that the Pokemon forms will be in the main game without a paywall so we appreciate this, though they shouldn't have been locked behind Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee in the first place.

Still, better late than never and it gives players an excuse to play Sword and Shield again. Even with all the backlash the two games received before its release, Sword and Shield are selling extremely well. In fact, Sword and Shield are the fourth best-selling games in the franchise, outselling pretty much every outing on 3DS.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch, with the first part of the Expansion Pass expected to hit the eShop this June.
