The latest episode of Secret Invasion sent shockwaves to the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom as it saw the surprising death of Emilia Clarke's Skrull character G'iah.

Serving as an undercover agent for Nick Fury and her father Talos, G'iah became a member of the Skrull resistance against humans, a movement led by Gravik to exact revenge on Fury but over the last two episodes, we found out where her allegiance truly is.

Unfortunately, Gravik found out that G'iah was the Skrull Council's traitor and took matters into his own hands, killing his former ally during the closing moments of Episode 3. Despite its shock value, it turns out that the character's demise was actually spoiled ahead of this week's episode.

Naturally, G'iah's death sparked an outcry from the fandom who blamed the studio for wasting Clarke. But is the Game of Thrones star's MCU tenure truly over?

Some theories suggest that Emilia could make her way back to the franchise as the human G'iah mimicked and it could happen within the next couple of weeks. Others are convinced that the character didn't die from the gunshot and survived thanks to the same regenerative ability Gravik displayed earlier in the episode.

The first three episodes of Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion are now streaming on Disney+.
