Later this year, the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set to arrive in theaters. A lot of fans are looking forward to the franchise's next chapter following the unexpected huge success of the previous film back in 2021.

However, considering that the production only wrapped just recently and a lot of VFX work is needed to be done for this type of project, there has been skepticism about whether they will be able to finish it by its release this December.

There is also the fact that the writers' strike might have some effect on how the film is being shaped and the filmmakers might want to take some more time on its post-production.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Ernie Hudson, who plays Winston Zeddemore, addressed the latest status on the highly-anticipated Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel.

While he confirmed that filming already wrapped, he also cautioned that there is a likelihood that the film's release might get delayed to early next year instead.

"Yeah, we finished, the movie is done, it's wrapped. Obviously, they're editing and doing whatever else. I've heard rumors the end of the year they'll push for, or maybe spring next year," he said.

"I never know how the studios are gonna do whatever they do, but the filming is done, which was a little bit difficult with the writers' strike and everything going on."

Hudson continued, "So, I know there was a lot of shuffling around in terms of where it was being done, but I'm thankful that we at least got it done in the can, and now, I'm like everybody else, waiting to see what it all looks like."

Considering all the circumstances right now, it's really not surprising at this point if we'll hear an update very soon that the film will get delayed. While that is unfortunate news for fans, the post-production team will also get more breathing time in order to complete their work.

Hopefully, if ever the film gets delayed, it will only be an additional few months of wait and it will all be worth it in the end once we see the final results. We should be hearing more updates about this very soon.
