The third season of Dr. Stone is finally coming in 2023 and we just got an interesting new teaser for the anime's return. In addition to that, Ghost in the Shell star Maaya Sakamoto has just been confirmed to play Francois in Dr. Stone: New World.
Dr. Stone: New World Casts Maaya Sakamoto as Francois
The Dr. Stone Season 3 teaser was shared during Jump Festa 2023. Although it doesn't feature any new footage from the upcoming season, it does confirm that Francois will finally get their anime debut and that they will be voiced by Maaya Sakamoto.
Francois is an interesting addition to Dr. Stone. Before the Petrification, they were Ryusui Nanami's butler who is known for culinary and hospitality skills. Francois is also very intelligent and is set to play an important role in the Kingdom of Science.
It's great to know that Francois will be played by Maaya Sakamoto who already has several memorable roles under her belt. She is best known for playing the young Motoko Kusanagi in 2002's Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, a role she reprised in 2015's Ghost in the Shell: Arise – Alternative Architecture. Sakamoto also portrayed Lady Tamayo in the first season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and the antagonistic Akito Sohma in Fruits Basket.
What To Expect In Dr. Stone: New World
The third season of Dr. Stone will take place immediately after the special episode Dr. Stone: Ryusui, which introduced the new character Ryusui Nanami. With Ryusui on his side, Senku Ishigami is expected to finally return to the village and continue their search for oil.
Dr. Stone: New World will continue with the manga's Age of Exploration arc that was started in Dr. Stone: Ryusui. Although the third season has not yet been given an official release date, the anime is already set to return in April 2023.
