George Clooney and Amal Clooney’s marriage is, reportedly, one of the strongest unions in Hollywood today. Even though the Clooneys met while the actor was already in his 50s, their lives certainly changed for the better since they started dating each other.
During a recent interview, George Clooney admitted that he never even thought that he would get married, let alone have children. So, when his wife’s doctor told them that they were expecting twins, the Clooneys were shocked.
Despite having what looks like a perfect marriage, George and Amal’s union was never easy. In fact, the couple couldn’t be more different from each other. But it is their commitment to stay together that made their relationship work.
George Clooney, Amal Clooney Committed To Making Their Marriage Work
In Touch Weekly, in its Dec. 6 issue, said that George and Amal both agreed to make some adjustments to their marriage to make it work. And the couple also agreed never to spend so much time apart.
“George and Amal have definitely had a few rough spots. But they managed to save their marriage by working on it together,” the unnamed source said.
During his previous interview, George proudly said that he and his wife are able to manage their busy schedules by making sure that they are still connected despite the distance.
The doting dad also said that he and Amal agreed to lessen their workload so that they could spend more time with each other and their children. George clarified that this doesn’t mean that they are no longer allowed to do the things that they love to do. Rather, it simply means that he can’t take on four movie roles at a time, and Amal can’t take on six clients.
“I had this conversation with Amal the other day. We have to rethink our lives because we’re working a lot,” George said.
The actor revealed that they need an entire year to wrap up all their engagements. And after they do, they will spend more time with each other.

George Clooney Gushes Over Amal Clooney
Another secret to George and Amal’s successful marriage is the fact that they are so proud of each other. The Up In the Air actor previously admitted that the only thing he could beat his wife in is arm wrestling.
“That is my only chance of winning anything with her because if it’s an intellectual battle, I would lose,” he said.
Throughout the years, George has also uttered some of the sweetest statements about his wife.
During his appearance in the Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman, the actor said that Amal is the one person that he would trade his life for.
“I met someone who I would absolutely trade my life for, I met someone, who, her life meant more to me than my life. I had never had that experience before,” he said.
While speaking with Esquire, George also said that he’s never been this happy in a relationship until he met his wife.
“I've never been happier in a relationship by any stretch of the imagination. At 52, I found the love of my life and I’m really happy,” he gushed.
George has also been a wonderful dad to his twins. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said that his and Amal’s goal is to not screw things up for Ella and Alexander.
“The first thing you think is, ‘I hope I don’t screw this up.’ I mean, look, we are all responsible for things in life, and Amal and I are responsible for each other in a way — we look out for one another and we care about one another. But you are really responsible for two kids. I want them to be happy. I want them to have a sense of humor. I want them to be interested in things. I want them to be compassionate about other people’s plights. Because that’s the thing, you know? You have to have some sort of empathy,” George proudly said.
