Gege Akutami Reacts to Satoru Gojo's Return in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 221

There is little doubt that Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 221 was a true gamechanger for the manga as Satoru Gojo finally made an awesome comeback. Interestingly, creator Gege Akutami is feeling pleased about the return of the beloved character.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 221, the Culling Game players finally managed to unseal Gojo after 1,189 days in the Prison Realm. Because Kenjaku hid the Prison Realm in the Japan Trench, the unsealing caused an earthquake but that didn't prevent Gojo from finding Kenjaku right away.

Although Gojo immediately tried to confront Kenjaku, he stopped when he realizes that the villain is supported by Uraume and Sukuna, who had possessed Megumi Fushiguro. Instead, he set a date for the big battle.

It was an awesome comeback for Satoru Gojo and Gege Akutami addressed the possibility that it could be a mistake in the authors' comment box in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.

"Itadori's right ear returning is my mistake, but Gojo coming back isn't a mistake," Akutami wrote.

It's an interesting thought considering that everyone knows that Gege Akutami has made it clear that Gojo isn't his favorite character. On the other hand, the mangaka does address that Gojo is an important figure in the story and that his return means we are finally getting close to the epic conclusion.

Gege Akutami has repeatedly teased the end for Jujutsu Kaisen. Back in 2021, the creator stated that the story will end in two years and just last year, his comments suggested that he will only write new chapters until 2023.

"As always, I have been drawing things that I don't understand, but I'd be happy if you could meet me for another year," Akutami wrote.

For now, it has not yet been revealed when Jujutsu Kaisen will end. In the meantime, the anime's second season will premiere in July 2023.
