Game of Thrones has featured a lot of tragic deaths but one character's fate has remained uncertain, until now.

During a recent interview with EW, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have explained what happened to Ser Pounce, Tommen's cat that mysteriously disappeared after the young Lannister committed suicide. It turns out that Cersei Lannister murdered the cat.

"Cersei hated the name ‘Ser Pounce' so much she could not allow him to survive," showrunner David Benioff told EW "So she came up with her most diabolical [execution]. Ser Pounce's death was so horrible we couldn't even put it on the air."

Dan Weiss went on to reveal that the fully-extended Game of Thrones box set will feature the cat's death, set for release later this year.

Ser Pounce touched the hearts of fans but save your tears for the next season. The show is expected to feature more tragic deaths. Maybe Ser Pounce can join the White Walker's army.

Game of Thrones Season 8 is set to premiere on April 14.
