Game Of Thrones Series Finale’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Still A Low For The Fantasy Epic

The Rotten Tomatoes score for the finale of Game of Thrones is finally in. While fans believe that the series managed to bow out in a neat way despite the many issues of the last season of the series, it seems like many fans and critics are taking issue with "The Iron Throne."

Right now Game of Thrones very last episode has raked in 53 reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, coming up to a 57% approval rating from everyone on the review aggregator website. The episode "The Iron Throne" has 30 fresh reviews and 23 rotten reviews, making for an average rating of 6.69/10.

That isn't particularly high, but it's a bit higher than the penultimate episode in the final season of the series. The official critics consensus regarding the last episode of Game of Thrones is tart, naming "The Iron Throne" both bittersweet and bland.

"If nothing else, "The Iron Throne" is a bittersweet — if unfortunately bland — series finale that ensures Game of Thrones fans will linger on the fate of their favorite characters for some time. Will they ever be satisfied by the show's conclusions? Ask us again in 10 years."

Right now we aren't quite sure how we feel about "The Iron Throne" really. While we love how the showrunners concluded the series, tying the arcs of other fan-favorites like Samwell Tarly, Brienne of Tarth, Sansa Stark, and Arya, we feel like the last two seasons have been rushed. The impact of the episode would have been stronger if David Benioff and D.B. Weiss allowed for better build-up by extending the show. Unfortunately, it seems like the two were eager to leave Game of Thrones and move on to their next project, Star Wars.

Game of Thrones season 8 aired its final episode yesterday on HBO.
