Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes Will Not Be 2-Hours Long

We recently reported that Game of Thrones Season 8 is set to premiere in the first half of 2019, and now, HBO Programming Chief Casey Bloys shared some details about the upcoming final season to Entertainment Weekly.

The final season of Game of Thrones is expected to have epic battles involving the White Walkers, so it's easy to assume that we'll have longer episodes compared to the regular runtime for the episodes in the previous seasons. Now, Bloys has confirmed that Season 8 will not have 2-hour episodes. He also said that the trailer for the final season is expected to come out in 2018 but he doesn't know the specific date yet.

When asked about the possibility of more Game of Thrones prequels other than the one that is being written by George R.R. Martin and Jane Goldman, Bloys said that HBO currently doesn't have plans for that right now.

"I don't anticipate any movement on any other prequels until we [see what this one is]," Bloys said.

When talking about the possibility of big screen screenings for the final season, Bloys said, "We talked about it over the years. It ends up being a marketing discussion. My feeling is anything we do with Game of Thrones is that our subscribers should be the first to see it."

Game of Thrones Season 8 is set to premiere in the first half of 2019 but HBO hasn't announced a specific date yet.
