It's no secret that Game of Thrones Season 8 will focus on a huge battle between the entire Seven Kingdoms and the White Walkers. But what can we expect in the first episode? The cast list from the still-untitled Episode 1 reveals that at least three forgotten characters will return and their fates could finally be decided.
The program details for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 1 has been discovered by Watchers on the Wall. Although the title of the premiere episode has not yet been revealed, it also has a rather extensive cast list. In addition to most of the main cast that we have been following throughout the seventh season, there are familiar names that have been missing for several episodes.
The first notable name is Gemma Whelan. We haven't seen Yara Greyjoy since she was taken by Euron Greyjoy in the Season 7 episode The Queen's Justice. Although fans have feared that Euron has killed Yara, there's still a possibility that Theon Greyjoy will manage to save his sister right away.
The first Season 8 episode will also feature Tobias Menzies and Lino Facioli, who have been absent since the sixth season. Menzies appeared briefly as Edmure Tully in No One where he took back Riverrun under Jaime Lannister's orders. Facioli's most recent appearance as Robyn Arryn was in Book of the Stranger where he agreed to support Sansa Stark upon Littlefinger's advice.
It's still unclear what will happen to any of these three characters. Could they be brought back only to be killed off immediately or will they play a larger role in the final season? The truth will be revealed once Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 1 airs this April.
