Game Of Thrones Prequel Series Reportedly Set For Production Sometime In February Next Year

Game of Thrones might be coming to an end next year with its eighth and final season set for release on HBO, but it looks like fans won't have to wait long for the fantasy epic's prequel series to keep them busy.

According to a new report by GWW, word has it that the pilot episode of The Long Night just might be set for filming at same shooting stage of Game of Thrones at the Paint Hall of the Titanic Studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland as soon as February hits next year.

Though fans are naturally supposed to take rumors like these with a grain of salt, this new report coincides with the comments that Casey Bloys, the programming president of HBO, made during the Television Critics Association's tour back in July. Back then, Cloys revealed that production on Jane Goldman's prequel Game of Thrones series would start sometime "early 2019."

February certainly fits in that time frame, though of course, production could fall on another month within the first quarter of 2019. Meanwhile, it seems like there haven't been that many updates regarding Goldman's upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff. There still haven't been any casting announcements for the series, or any official release date. Right now, HBO is still ordering the pilot for the series, so we'll probably have to wait and see whether this new spinoff comes to full fruition.
