Game of Thrones: Lena Heady Wanted a Better Death for Cersei Lannister

Game of Thrones was filled with "character assassinations" and one of the victims was the lioness Cersei Lannister. A lot of people are pissed that Cersei died the way she did, and apparently even Lena Heady herself thinks her character deserved a better end.

Talking to the Guardian, Heady was asked about any frustrations with the show, to which she said, "No, listen… I invested as a viewer and I have my favourite characters. And I've got a few of my own gripes. But I haven't sat down drunkly with David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] yet." Then she finished with, "I will say I wanted a better death."

Heady goes on to say:

"Obviously you dream of your death… You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted. But I just think they couldn't have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb."

After the death of the Night King, fans have accepted that the show had wanted to make Cersei the big bad all along, only to have that rug pulled up underneath them one more time to reveal that Daenerys was the final boss. At best, Cersei just spent her time standing on the Red Keep's balcony and drinking bit of a shame counting she was probably one of the best villains of the series.

If anything, no one is blaming any of the actors or the crew about how the final season turned out. All the blame is going to showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss who somehow rushed the show so they could start working on something else. Even creator George R.R. Martin thought the show could go on for more seasons.

For now, all fans have left are the upcoming prequel series which still has no release date. Hopefully, we can get an update before 2019 ends.
