If Harry Potter had Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw, then Game of Thrones had its own houses to sort, too. Given the nature of belonging to their respective Houses, this would entirely define their line in society, as well as in this article. Here are all the major Houses in Game of Thrones' Westeros ranked from weakest to strongest!

  1. House Tully

The House of Tully is where Catelyn Stark and Lysa Arryn came from, and if it weren't for their own marriages to their respective houses, Game of Thrones would have practically ceased to exist.

Now, the problem with the Tullys is when they fail to understand the unspoken mechanics of the game of thrones, which led to their ultimate downfall for not having riches as the other houses and nor the basic knowledge about battle strategy and politics.

  2. House Arryn

The House of Arryn is lifted from the chaos (literally) which would supposedly keep the royals safe in their castles.

The thing about the Arryns is their disconnection with the people. Their isolation from the Vale and Westeros, in general, is what keeps them out of touch with their reality.

Their nest in the Vale allows them to control what they can - within their own castle, including their own affairs. Hence, the Moon Door they use on traitors.

  3. House Baratheon

King Robert Baratheon ruled the Seven Kingdoms at the beginning of the series after claiming the Iron Throne for himself, following the 'Mad King' Aerys II Targaryen's reign.

The Baratheon brothers were evidently held with high honors to their own accords: Robert, a formidable warrior on the battlefield, Stannis as a clever battle strategist, and Renly who's known for his charm and wit.

Unfortunately, it is through their own pride in those qualities that they met their end in the series.

  4. House Martell

The Tyrells are one of the wealthiest houses in the Seven Kingdoms. Their strength lay head-to-head with the Lannisters, which led to the House of Tyrell gaining new allegiances, marriages, and favors that would immediately rescue them from any potential harm.

Their unfortunate downfall, though, is not having enough strong men in their army for when their battles ensue. Money isn't everything, you know, as seen with Prince Oberyn's brutal defeat against the Mountain.

  5. House of Boltons

Their symbol being the flayed man isn't just a design on their flag. They wave it proudly, as they refuse to treat humans less so than how they treat animals - as their prey.

The Boltons is one of the most formidable houses whose reputation preceded them, especially when it comes to ensuring their allegiances with the other houses are seen through until the end of the agreement.

The cruel family traditions led to generations and generations of brutal force that makes them terrifying beyond belief to fight against.

  6. House Tyrell

The House of Tyrell is a sneaky one. For bearing the insignia of roses, they tend to be friendly and quite pleasing to be with. That is until you prick their thorns.

The Tyrells have become well off in their household, given that, similar to the Martells, their power is rooted in money and the most charming and gorgeous women in the Seven Kingdoms.

However, the problem lies in not foreseeing the treachery that lies beneath the surface of the other houses.

  7. House of Lannisters

The Lannisters have boasted their riches and for hailing the most dangerous and ruthless warriors across the Seven Kingdoms, but does this make them the strongest? Unfortunately, not as powerful as you think.

Though the Lannister household has long been kept at the top of the ranks in Westeros, the minute Tywin Lannister died, so did his own family, all of whom have been left defenseless despite their decadence. Including the intelligent imp, Tyrion Lannister.

  8. House of Stark

Close, but no cigar. The House of Stark has been notably the strongest in terms of how Ned and Catelyn Stark raised their children to be as strong and as brave as the dire wolves on their flags.

The Starks won the game in the end, with Bran gaining the three-eyed raven's powers, Sansa ruling the North as its Queen, and Jon leading the Wildlings and the Men of the Night's Watch.

The only thing that hinders them from fully taking their triumphant spotlight is the house of dragons.

  9. House Targaryen

Need we say more? The Targaryens might as well have been the rulers of the Seven Kingdoms since their firstborn.

Considering that they can harness their powers and their ability to withstand and control their own dragons, the house of Targaryen remains highly influential and prominent across the seas.

Although Daenerys Targaryen could've had it all, the House of the Dragon depicts clearly why they deserve the number one spot of being the strongest House in all of Westeros.
